Christmas Advent ~ one more week till Christmas!

It is a howling wind today with driving rain and flooding, this 4th Sunday before Christmas in Advent. I was taking stock and just happy that there are people who care about the disappearing tigers, polar bears and other large mammals on our planet. The trees, the other small animals all necessary for our lives. It is heartbreaking but in this special spiritual time there are many words of comfort that can dispel the gloom. Not like we will have this wonderful planet the way God intended but that great and small acts of kindnesses, among all animals as we tell our story don't go unnoticed by others and more importantly, by our Creator. It is also a special time when wonderful spiritual beings are prevalant...Angels. May they guard our lives while we go through our crisis on earth. Peace and Joy!

Let the field be joyful, and all that is therein: then shall all the trees of the wood rejoice.
Before the Lord: for he cometh to judge the earth: he shall judge the world with rightgeousness and the people with his truth.
                               Psalms 96:12-13

...good tidings of great joy, which will be to all people.

The Wolf Lays Down With the Lamb

It was a long and ugly struggle but thanks to Earthjustice and many groups and people who banded together, the endangered gray wolf will not be hunted down mercilessly and in barbaric ways such as aerial gunning.

The return to a greener America...except wolves and wild horses.

The parent of our beloved dogs, the wolf was delisted prematurely from the Endangered Species List and is scheduled to be hunted down again from planes and helicopters. The animals are usually wounded and left to die alone. The perps return to the den and execute the pups. Alaska, Idaho and Montana are gearing up for the massacre, the plan is to eliminate them totally...extinction. Something so terribly wrong here. Defenders of Wildlife and other groups are suing the government to halt this atrocity. It's too bad. The Obama administration has stepped up to the plate on most environmental issues but the wolf delisting has really stuck like a thorn in the side of animal lovers. (Click on the post title to go to Defenders website.)

More on the slaughter of wild horses soon.

Finally, the US Gov. has declared the polar bears a threatened species!

At last, we officially have listed the polar bears as endangered. Along with many environmental and wildlife groups, I have been petitioning, emailing and calling those in control in this government for several years to get them listed. I still run into people who don't realize these beautiful white bears are drowning in their Arctic habitat because the ice is melting. It is heart-rending to see the film clips of the large bears swimming and swimming with no place to land. I'm not showing any graphics or clips because I don't want any copyright lawyers swooping in on me. So I am just writing. At least it is a step and some want this all connected to climate change, you think? Of course it's related to global warming! Just about everyone grew up with a teddy bear, and now this one is a big ole white one that everyone loves and their sweet cubs. Tears still come to my eyes over their plight because...are we too late? I don't know. I told a friend the other day that it would be sad to think they are all gone from their home and we can only think of them and visit them in a zoo. Well, at least Uncle Sam has decided to care enough about them to list them. Praying here that they will come back like the American Bald Eagle. Really, the polar bear is a symbol as well for the North Pole. I find it staggering to think I might be alive to see them disappear. Please God.
