Remembering our Military

I am dedicating my blog to Memorial Day this week. Last century and most of this one, the US has been at war too often. My grandfathers, great-uncles, uncles, father, friends, relatives of friends and boyfriends have been in the military service in one branch or another. Our troops are drawing down now in Iraq...peacekeepers getting ready to exit. We still have our commitment in Afghanistan against al qaida which has an exit date in 2011. Our President has declared diplomacy with defense as our national policy which marks us as a highly civilized nation. We are on the road to peace. May God bless the USA!

VFW Memorial Wall

In my email this past week I received an invitation to put any Veterans of Foreign Wars on a Memorial Wall for free or a donation. I went to the website and added both of my grandfathers for their service in the Army during WWI and my dad for his service in the Navy during WWII. I sent it to my sister in Florida because I thought she might like to add her husband for his service during the VietNam War. It is a wonderful website and there is a store to purchase patriotic items. It just made me feel real good for the Memorial Holiday.
