Happy Halloween

Saturday was a fun day at the Museum of Art in San Jose. These photos show some of that fun. There was music in the park across the street and in the museum, people in costume, and tables set up with activities, all celebrating the Day of the Dead. The little white skulls are cakes that children and parents decorated with icing to take home. They got masks to paint, big colorful paper flowers to make, and several stations set up for plain old coloring pictures.
The Family show was wonderful with an ongoing slide show of every artist represented holding their artwork. The slideshow was at one of the entrances to the show.
The Day of the Dead is celebrated here in California and takes place after Halloween. It really is a time to remember the departed in our families. I wrote down relatives I miss on a white ribbon in the show. One is my grandmother who was a talented watercolorist and china painter. She was a sweet lady and I miss her a lot. I did a couple of paintings with her in them when I was 19 but don't have them anymore. One was a gift to her and one was auctioned off.
Day of the Dead, a time to miss dear relatives who have left us.
