Post-Ballet Joy

Well, what a wonderful week-end. The Smurin Ballet was contemporary and refreshing. My mother cried in the first number which is unlike her, it was Psalms to Stravinsky. The second was The Blue Angel and a farewell to the Assistant Director. The final third of the show is why we went. Fly Me To The Moon...songs by Frank Sinatra. It was wonderful fun. Pop music in ballet. The costumes were light and wonderful. The troupe was quite young and very lithe. A dancers' life is young and brief. Then they choreograph and teach. The crowd in Carmel was almost as much fun to watch as the ballet. Almost.

The next day we took in a couple of movies. I am my mother's daughter. If our eyes didn't water and burn we could have stayed for more.

Let me recommend Jack Black's new Nacho Libra. Spiritually moving and hilarious. In a different key is Prairie Home Companion. Just the star power made it fun. Coming from the Midwest it was great nostalgia in songs and characters. The modern day hostile takeover was perfect for up to the minute happenings with a mysterious angel as catalyst and justifier.

There are some pretty good movies out and more coming this summer. Plus live concerts abound. It's good to change the pace around, do something different. Today I got an ortho-bionomy massage or rub. I feel better and am breathing easier.

Do something wonderful for yourself...and then for someone else. Happy Summer!!
