September is now National Wilderness Month celebrating wilderness protection for 45 years.

We simply need that wild country available to us, even if we never do more than drive to its edge and look in. For it can be a means of reassuring ourselves of our sanity as creatures, a part of the geography of hope.- Wallace Stegner, the Wilderness Letter
Near me is the Big Sur Wilderness area which is part of Los Padres National Forest and the Monterey Bay Marine Life Sanctuary. It is a breathtaking place with many beach and cliff accesses along Hwy 1. I recommend this area to all Americans because if nothing else, they would immediately understand the need to protect wilderness areas.
