Walk In The Velvet Woods

California's Governor Schwarzenegger and Attorney General Lockyer are suing the Federal government to stop the logging intrusions upon the areas designated as Roadless Forests. The protections would cover 4.4 million acres in Angeles, Los Padres, Cleveland, and San Bernadino
National Forests from logging, mining, and new roads.

Walk In The Velvet Woods

Walk in the velvet woods,
Walk where the rattlesnake grass
Jumps up to greet
The sting of life.
Walk where the mushroom
Sprouts to catch the
Baby raindrops
To spin a
Dreamland.
For my careworn
Life,
Walk by the cathedral
Of trees as they
Bend low, shed their
Great jackets
To bare their souls
To catch mine
As I fold into
The rich earth.
Walk in the velvet woods,
Walk by the spinning spider's
Web full of dew,
The new-born fern leaf
Under the winking star.
Walk with me
And walk
Away to
Dreamland.
