Pick up your cross and follow me.

The cross for the modern world is a familiar symbol which I believe has 2 implications for us, one which can be almost sub-conscious. It is a horrible method of execution that belongs in an uncivilized and unChristian world. But when you become a Christian, you must carry your own cross and also be at the foot of the cross and be blessed by the blood of Christ that He shed for our sins so that we could be forgiven by God. It is the only way to enter heaven, through Jesus and the blood He sheds on the cross.

So we must first take up our cross and then follow Him to Calvary.

I think this graphic tag shows the images of the stormy sea, the cross, and our Savior under the guiding lighthouse and welcoming arms of Father God. We must be on the right path. I find it heartfelt this year because of all the hurricanes and storms our country has endured.

And when He had called the people to Him, with His disciples also, He said to them,
Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.
Mark 8:34
