Humpback Whales Breaching -When it's all worth it!

I took my teenage daughter on a whale watching day cruise out of Boston into the North Atlantic in the 80's. Watching the humpbacks in the ocean has to be one of the greatest shows on earth and made this environmentalist's heart full of love. They came right up to the side of the boat, mouths open in a big whale grin and then flipped over, flashing their tails as they dove. The crew showed us how to watch for rainbow blows and bird flocks over the water, indications of whales below. They clearly loved us being with them.

God's Smile

It's the week of my birthday. I always remember this time now as the Summer Solstice and the beginning of summer, as a naturalist once wrote in the Boston Globe, "It is the time when the timothy is high and all birds roost.", when the beautiful purple jacaranda trees bloom in San Jose, CA, and now from my sister this...God's Smile!
