It's National Wildflower Week! They are my favorite flowers because they also have the element of surprise with their beauty. Lots of people love Death Valley, CA for wildflowers in the spring but my favorite place is Highway 1 along the Northern California coast up past Pt. Reyes and further north. July is breathtaking with intense Indian Paintbrush and fields of colorful lupine. It is gorgeous but take someone with you so you don't drive off the road looking. Better yet stop and look.
