Butterfly Crossing

Amid all the brouhaha of the G20 Summit, this article (click on title) quietly appeared on MSNBC news on the Internet. What a complete turnaround for the bustling Asian world of China. It's true, it is butterfly season and we must be careful for these beautiful creatures. In Santa Cruz, Pacific Grove, and Pismo Beach, CA the lovely monarchs are awakening from their milkpod cocoons and spreading their gorgeous orange and black wings to flutter away. I know in Pacific Grove, CA, the protections on these beauties is a hefty $5,000 fine if they are molested. Something to see is when they cloud in the air and it is like an orange mist moving by. Swallowtails are appearing in Florida now, as well. I can remember the sadness I would feel when I was a little girl and would happen upon a wounded butterfly still fluttering, one wing broken. Watch out for these beauties.
