Happy St. Patrick's Day ~ How green it is!

It's that wonderful time of the year when the whole world is Irish. It's the advent of spring, the trees are really blooming right now here in Silicon Valley, along with deep purple irises, long stalks of white calla lillies, and primroses. The weather is still cool with showers but by afternoon, it is warm and sunny. I was shopping yesterday for my St. Patrick's Day dinner of corned beef brisket and cabbage, soda bread and tea. The check-out young lady was very interested in my St. Patrick Day cards for family and the food. We had a pleasant chat about how delicious that meal is and her mom always makes it for her. However she said she wasn't Irish but Dutch and German. I told her that everyone is Irish on March 17th! It is so wonderful to be able to share these good and friendly feelings. Here is a quote in Irish Gaelic and its translation:
Saolaítear na daoine uile saor agus coṁionann ina ndínit agus ina gcearta. Tá bua an réasúin agus an ċoinsiasa acu agus dlíd iad féin d'iompar de ṁeon bráiṫreaċais i leiṫ a ċéile.

Translation

All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.(Article 1 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights)
The other wonderful part of this St. Patrick's Day is the wonderful greening of the USA and the world that is occurring. Click on the title of this blog to go to Environmental News Network to read exciting news about our world.
