Halloween is over and I believe so is my year long slump. Those of you who stop by this blog may have noticed not much writing getting done and a graphic would tie me over till the next holiday or month. I don't know what happened exactly but a year ago last July we had a long, very hot heat wave and it zapped a lot of life out of me. My doctor gave me some medicine a couple of months ago and I have perked up quite a bit. He wouldn't call me depressed but close to it. It's a wonder I'm not and more people aren't with all the negative news going on. However, not on the green side...much good news is happening!
Maybe the swiftness with some of the changes that have been happening has helped pick me up. I should have been blogging about them all along. Here is the big one: San Jose's Mayor Chuck Reed and a unanimous City Council just passed his Green Vision for this city! It has wonderful goodies in it which I will blog about later. I have quit blogging in my other blog in order to concentrate here.
Also I took an online digital camera class through HP and have rediscovered my camera again. It is, as usual, breathtaking in this city for autumn. I usually can't stop to photograph the beauty around me but plan to go on a tree and floral photo shoot soon with my new camera information to enhance it. This graphic has a lovely fall feeling in it as well as the beauty of nature.
Speaking of photos, the most moving photo or video I've seen in a long time (matches the drowning polar bears of the Arctic) was the horrific dolphin kill in Japan recently. Apparently it's gone on for centuries only this time there were environmentalists with cameras present to record the slaughter. To think of these beautiful creatures being killed for food is very disturbing. I can remember my daughter coming home from grade school crying to me that there was dolphins in our tuna cans and we weren't to eat them! It was very touching and we began looking for the dolphin free label on each can. At the end of the clip a beautiful activist came out of the water in her wet suit, sobbing. Then the camera panned to a huge pool of blood in the water. It has to stop.
