Advent is going into its second week and all around me I can see and hear the Christmas spirit growing. Plans are being made for the holiday; travel or not, decorating, baking, shopping, wrapping gifts, caroling, music to listen to, visiting, gift giving and receiving, church services to attend.
My home transforms into more greenery and Christmas reds spreading its own colorful cheer. Presents are beginning to appear under the tree. I keep mine up until Epiphany. (Personnally I would like a Christmas tree up all year round.)
My mom has decided to come here for Christmas Eve and Day plus. We are making plans for the holiday calling back and forth as we think of things to add to the festivities. I asked to have lunch with cousins I haven't seen for years...waiting on that.
I'm finished decorating and nearly finished with gift shopping. I do that right up to the end though.
Next week is baking! During these preparations is the beautiful Christmas music threading through the air. There are some really nice new cds this year.
I am trying to keep the story of our Lord's birth during advent. This week going to the movie, The Nativity, with a friend.
Hanukkah begins on Saturday at the end of the week.
Happy Advent!
