San Jose Jazz Festival

This last weekend was the 17th San Jose Jazz Festival. This year was a tribute to New Orleans Jazz and Dr. John and the Neville Brothers were here with their special kinds of jazziness. There was a special place that re-created Mardi Gras and people especially children got a mask and the Mardi Gras beads were seen throughout the Festival around the necks of music lovers.
There are several stages and these photos were taken at 3 different ones. Top is the Salsa stage with Brazil Brazil which was a fabulous group from where else...Brazil. The crowd adored them.
Second and third pics are the Latin Stage with my adorable mom in front of the Latin Jazz Stage in the first shot. The third pic is between shows. This was our favorite stage...we came here first and ate under the big white tent, then moseyed over to the Salsa stage, then the Main Stage, then back to the Latin Stage for the final performances...we wanted to see a wonderful Brazilian singer, Claudia Villela, who was absolutely my highlight of the day. The Neville Brothers were singing the last night and I wouldn't be there. Boo-hoo!
The last 2 pics are by the Main Stage, part of the big sea of people throughout the park. A man was up in a tree watching and the last photo well...Dr. John was playing and it just speaks for itself!
This is a wonderful event that was free until this year. Still worth the $5 admission fee. Even the Catholic Basilica had a Jazz Mass Sunday morning.
